In the mid 1990s, most of the freight that passed through Coventry’s night-time freight hub was transported aboard vintage propliners, including Vickers Viscounts and at the time, the world’s last operational Vickers Vanguard.
Henry Tenby captured this magic on video during several visits in 1995 and 1996. This AirlineHobby.com DVD program features ear-piercing Viscount and Vanguard action.
We also go for a cockpit flight on the world’s last in-service Vickers Vanguard (Hunting Cargo’s G-APEP) from Liverpool to Belfast, as well as a day-time flight on British World Viscount G-BFZL from Belfast to Coventry, with footage from both the cabin and the flight-deck.
