ORDER THIS DVD AT: http://www.henrytenby.com/DVDs/747flighttest.html This 81 minute DVD takes the viewer back to the late 1960s, to examine first hand Boeing's efforts to woo customers for their new jet. This is the remarkable story of perhaps the greatest commercial airliner ever built. All aspects of the early development and flight test of the Boeing 747 are covered from initial design studies, proof of concept, to design, engine test, passenger handling, roll-out, first flight, and the extensive flight test program. As the footage is in many cases over forty years old, the image quality is not up to digital media standards that we are used to today. That said, the Boeing 747 story has rarely been told as extensively as presented on this special DVD, and we are confident that the historical importance of the material more than compensates for the less-than-perfect image quality of the day. We hope you will agree!

Classic scenes, here we have several B-52Gs from Beale AFB, Marysville, CA, making full power water injection "MITO" take-offs. The last of the "Water burners", the "G" introduced the new shorter vertical fin, revised nose & radome, and carried over the P&W J-57-P43 turbojets from the B-52F.

Airline videographer Henry Tenby then takes us for a 3-day visit to Baiyun Airport in Guangzhou (formerly Canton), back when many of the Chinese domestic airlines were still using Soviet aircraft. The stars of the show are the Tu154s of China United Airlines, China Southwest, and Sichuan Airlines. Great noise! The action is further spiced up by China General Yak-42s, a Vietnam Airlines Tu134, and more Tu154 action served up by Aeroflot, Air Volga, and Baikal Airlines. Additional domestic Chinese dishes include Shanghai Airlines 757, China Northwest MD80, BAe 146 and A300, Wuhan and Yunnan 737-300s, Air China 747SP, and lots of China Southern Airlines and China Eastern Airlines fleet action. The second half of the DVD serves up a generous helping of non-stop, jet action filmed from various scenic locations at Hong Kong’s Kai Tak airport, back in 1995 and 1997. Hong Kong-based Cathay Pacific Airways’ fleet mixes company with Kai Tak regulars including 747s of Mandarin Airlines (747SP), China Airlines, Philippine Airlines, Air China, Thai, United, KAL, Canadian, Polar Air Cargo, Air France, British Asia Airways, Air France, and Singapore Airlines, in addition to MD11s of Garuda, China Eastern, Philippine Air Lines ... and more!
