Keflavík, November 10, 2006. Airbus A380 F-WWDD comes to the famous crosswind field. The A380 did six landings in 40-50 knot 90° crosswinds, landing on runway 02, turning around on the other end and taking off on runway 20.

The Airbus A380 made its debut North American visit when it arrived at Vancouver International Airport at 0740 am on November, 29, 2006, inbound from Sidney, Australia on its round-the-world tour. It was bloody cold that morning at close to -10C and I almost lost my fingers to frost bite! But capturing this historic event on film was well worth it!

This publicity video was released to the media by the Vancouver Airport Authority YVR to document the first North American visit by the Airbus 380 when the huge craft visited Vancouver arriving from Sydney on November 29, 2006. YVR was the only North American stop for the Airbus A380 as it visited 10 different airports worldwide on four trips. The visit was part of a certification process for the A380, demonstrating its capabilities on a continuous, typical airline schedule. The aircraft landed on the north runway as scheduled at 0730, much to the delight of hundreds of plane spotters lining Ferguson Road, north of the airport. The A380 spent the day on the West Apron, where it was serviced and fuelled. It departed on time at 1630 for its final leg of the journey to its home base in Toulouse, France.

AirlineTV.net cameraman Henry Tenby filmed the departure of the Airbus A380 from R08R at Vancouver International Airport at 1030 am on October 17, 2007. The conditions were terrible. Low cloud base and light rain. The Airbus arrived from Bogota the evening of October 16, 2007 at 2000, and departed back to home base in France. Please excuse my cursing at the end of the clip as a panel van obstructs the view of the Airbus rotating. A real pain the back side.
